Now that we’re more than half way through the winter season here in the Northeast, we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and we’re happy to say it’s filled with bright hues, warmer breezes, and gorgeous spring blossoms. Ahhh, spring weddings, is there anything better? Spring is the time to brighten up all the little details in your life so it’s no wonder so many brides love this time of year! We’re kind of in love with it, too.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all you mushy little lovebirds out there! I hope your day is filled with chocolate, Barry White, and pretty little heart confetti. Boy, that does sound pretty perfect, doesn’t it? I think the only way it could possibly get better was if these adorable lovers from Fornarina were on your lovely little toes. Who says you can’t wear white in the middle of winter? With a cute little heart and sassy red heel detail, these beauties are sure to add a little extra love on Valentine’s.

I am blogging today from paradise, on the island of Grand Exuma in the Bahamas.  I was invited to come down and experience one of the best kept secrets in the Caribbean, Grand Isle Resort and Spa, one of the finest luxury resorts in the Bahamas.  We are going to be featuring our trip next week on the blog and giving you an insider’s look at the island and the Grand Isle Resort.  While we are here I also just learned the Today show has been on their own adventure through the Bahamas, check out their video here.

So while I hear the Northeast is getting hit with a little snow this weekend, I thought I would share with you a taste of the island, the Goombay Smash.  The drink of the Bahamas!  Cheers Everyone!

Goombay Smash Recipe

(serves two)

• Ice cubes
• 6 tablespoons pineapple juice
• 1/4 cup orange juice
• 1/4 cup Malibu rum or other coconut-flavored rum
• 2 tablespoons light rum
• 2 tablespoons gold rum
• 2 tablespoons dark rum
• 2 pineapple wedges
• 2 orange slices

Preparation

Fill cocktail shaker with ice; add pineapple juice, orange juice, and all rum. Cover and shake until very cold. Fill 2 short glasses with ice. Strain cocktail mixture over, dividing equally. Garnish with pineapple wedges and orange slices. Raise glass and toast.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t get enough of the bright neon pink I’ve been seeing lately! In clothing, home decor, weddings, cakes, and now Valentine’s Day; it just doesn’t get any better. Mixing this vibrant hue with a more subtle and romantic color such as blush pink, creates a gorgeous palette for any special day. How pretty would it be to fill a neon pink vase with pale pink flowers or wear a neon pink lip with some subtle pink eyeshadow? Oh, the ideas are flowing!
